II Kings 5:26 And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? It is amazing to me how we think we can get away with doing wrong. This story surely illustrates that. The servant has worked with Elisha for many years. He knows how God uses him. He knows that God tells him things but for some reason on this day he decides that he can get away with taking money and things. He thinks that no one will find out what he has done. He goes after Naaman and asks for an offering that had been previously offered and turned down. He takes that offering and hides it. He thinks that no one knows but God has shown Elisha. There was nothing wrong with taking offerings at different times but this wasn’t one of those times. He had betrayed Elisha and what he wanted. God is not trying to hold out on you. But know this, He knows and your sin will bite you before it is finished. Don’t assume that God doesn’t know. Don’t assume that there are no consequences. Don’t be that crazy!
