Genesis 39:21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy, and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
Things may have been going against Joseph. He had been sold by his brothers. He was a slave. He was now falsely accused and put in prison but still God was with him. God was blessing him. God was watching over the minor details in his life. He had given him favor with the jailor. He had blessed him even in slavery.
Have you ever considered that things do not have to be going that good, in comparison, for you to know that God is with you? I think that Jospeh teaches us to watch for God’s goodness. We watch to see how He is at work in our lives. God was good to Joseph no matter where he was. Joseph kept a good attitude. Jospeh kept believing and honoring God.
How do I deal with things that are going on in my life? Do I complain or see how God is blessing? Do I think that God is interested even in the small things of my life? A fatalistic attitude can easily develop where you do not believe that God is involved in your life. You think that things are just happening. You think that God couldn’t be interested in the small details of your life.
I don’t think Joseph lived there or ever got there. We can know that we are His. We can know that He is at work in our lives. It is time to trust and believe in God.
