Duty done

Genesis 24:41 Then shalt thou be clear from this my oath, when thou comest to my kindred; and if they give not thee one, thou shalt be clear from my oath.

The servant was to go in search of a wife for Abraham’s son, Isaac. He was to follow the instructions he was given. He was to take the message that Abraham was sending. He was to give the invitation and offer the gifts. The decision would be up to the young lady and her family. If she refused to come then the servant would be clear of his oath. He would have done his duty. He would have carried out his commission.

This is a picture of what happens with us. As we go out and take the gospel we are sent on a mission. It is our job to go. It is our job to take the message. It is our job to follow His instructions. It is our job to give the invitation. The person will decide if they will accept the free gift or not. We are clear of our oath and our duty is done when we do the part that He has assigned us. Let’s tell people about Jesus!
