Jeremiah 38:4 Therefore the princes said unto the king, We beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.
His message wasn’t popular enough. He told the truth. He told what God told him to say. His message warned of coming judgment. He didn’t speak positively of the country. He didn’t make the people think that things were ok.
They wanted to get rid of him. They didn’t want him to be allowed to speak. He seemed to not be interested in the people. He really was interested in the people and that is why he gave them the word of God.
The truth isn’t always popular but that doesn’t change the fact that it is the word of God. It is true. It is what we need. We need to come ready to listen and believe. It is not ours to judge as to whether it is what we like or want. We should rather be saying, give us the word of God
