What a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas! We at Vision Baptist Church moved into our first very own building on Christmas Day, 2016. Before the service, we gathered around the front of the new church building. After a time of singing and prayer, John Pearson, who was very influential in the building project, cut the ribbon and our church family entered our new building together. Everyone could keep a piece of the ribbon as a memento of this special day!
The building may have been different, but the service remained much the same. As usual, Pastor Gardner preached from the next passage of the Bible, which just so happened to be prophecy about the coming Messiah!
After the service, excitement spread as people explored the building and exchanged Merry Christmas wishes. Moms and nursery workers wanted to see the new nursery, teenagers peeked in the new youth room, and everyone looked forward to having Sunday school in all the separate classrooms. However, with a growing church like Vision, Sunday school classes are already meeting in the foyer and auditorium, and we look forward to adding even more Sunday school classes in the future.
The year closed out by adding our first new member in the new building, Bethany Staley. She has also scheduled her wedding to be the first in the new building, to be followed by several other upcoming weddings. The church is already growing in 2017; on the first day of the new year, new members Austin and Anny Grace Till joined the church.
Although Vision Baptist Church may have changed in location, it’s goal stays the same: to reach the world with the Gospel of Christ. We’ve already seen evidence of this as on our first Sunday night service of 2017, Ty and Rebecca Pepperdine announced God’s call on their lives to the mission field of China. We hope to see many more messengers of the Gospel sent out from our church to the rest of the world in the coming years.
