Isaiah 39:8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.
God sends word to Hezekiah that he has made a horrible mistake because he showed all he had to an enemy. Then Isaiah tells him that his kingdom will be destroyed and his children will be servants. Hezekiah says well good, at least things are going to be ok while I am still alive.
What a selfish way to think and act. To only worry about myself and not my children is preposterous. But then in many ways we still do that today. We are not concerned about the salvation of our children. We are not working at their spiritual growth.
We do not seem to be concerned about how our church will continue to minister after us. We do not seem to concerned about anyone but ourselves. God forgive us for being so selfish and indulgent.
