Isaiah 14:24 The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; And as I have purposed, so shall it stand: 25 That I will break the Assyrian in my land, And upon my mountains tread him under foot: Then shall his yoke depart from off them, And his burden depart from off their shoulders.
These two verses are very strong. God will do what He has thought about. He will make stand what He has purposed.
You could take that and make a very broad application to lots of things or even all in our lives and world. The truth is that this statement was made in context. God said that He would bring to pass what He had thought. He said that what He purposed would stand.
He did not make that as a general statement here. Read the context. Read the next verse. He said that about breaking the Assyrian. He said that here about a particular thought that He had. He was going to work in this incident.
When we read the Bible we want to see what it says and make it apply. We want to believe the Bible but that means knowing what He said, how He said it, and the context He said it in!!!
