Job 22:9 Thou hast sent widows away empty, And the arms of the fatherless have been broken. 10 Therefore snares are round about thee, And sudden fear troubleth thee;
As Job’s friends see him suffering they are sure it has a basic cause. They figure that he must be suffering because of sin in his life. They wrongly associate all suffering with God’s punishment.
They begin a list of things that they are sure that Job has done to sin and fail. It turns out that these things are not true. They want him to see cause and effect. Actually that is what Job is wanting to see also.
Job has been examining himself to see how he has failed and can’t see it. He knows that what they are saying is not true. He can’t understand why these things are happening to him.
Job nor none of his friends understand what is happening in heaven. They do not know that Job is a test case that God is using to prove to Satan that he is loved.
Nor do we know what is happening when we see tragedy. It is not so easy to draw a conclusion. We do not want to jump to the wrong conclusion so we would be wiser to wait it out and trust that God will show us why eventually
