Job 4:2 If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? But who can withhold himself from speaking?
Job’s friends come to speak to him. They can’t wait to come. They have a lot to say. It was as though they had been waiting for their chance to correct the man that had done so much good.
Job will it hurt you that we talk to you. Well, it doesn’t matter. We have to talk to you.
They will now spend the rest of the book trying to correct Job. They will tell him what he has done wrong. They aren’t really there to help and love him as much as to correct him. They aren’t there as friends but as correctors.
I do not want to be this type of friend. I want to learn to sit with the guy that is hurting. I want to love him and help him. I want to be a true friend.
