Ezra 6:21 And the children of Israel, which were come again out of captivity, and all such as had separated themselves unto them from the filthiness of the heathen of the land, to seek the LORD God of Israel, did eat,
Notice that the children of Israel separated themselves from the filthiness of the heathen. That means that they realized that much of the worship, the walk, the way they lived was wrong before God. They realized that they had become like the world and moved away from that.
They began to seek God. They stopped going after sin and started seeking after God. They began to see how they could love God and serve Him. They began to choose His ways over the ways of the world.
Separation isn’t as hard to understand as we may like to make it. We simply turn our back on what we know is sin and doesn’t please God. We set our heart to seek God and know Him better.
It really isn’t about hating sin and leaving sin as much as it is about changing direction and going after God which has the same result. I realize that this sinful world and its filthiness is just that, filthy. I don’t want that any longer. I want Him.
I seek Him in prayer, in the Word, in my thoughts all day long. I consider Him as I make all decisions. I seek to do what I know He wants me to do. I choose God over self and sin!
