I Chronicles 24:2 But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children: therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest’s office.
What a sad story we have in Nadab and Abihu. They sinned against the Lord by offering an unsanctioned offering. They willfully did what they wanted and not what God wanted. They died.
The custom was that a man’s children would continue the work of the Lord that God had given him. A man’s ministry could far exceed him because his children would continue on. These men died leaving no one. God chose substitutes. I don’t want that to happen in my family.
I want to see my family serving and worshipping Jesus long after I am gone. I want to be careful not to do something that will drive my sons out of the ministry. I also don’t want to do something that would make them not love serving God.
I want the worship of God to continue in my family till Jesus comes. I have a great responsibility to teach my family about Jesus.
