I Chronicles 18:11 Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all these nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
David is a king. As king he could take anything for himself. Yet as God blessed the nation David took what they got and dedicated it to God and to the temple. They would win battles. Countries would bring gifts. David took all that was coming and dedicated it to the temple.
David wasn’t using his position to make himself rich but to serve God. He took what God put in his hands and used it to further God’s purposes.
That is what I want to do with my life. I want to be a giver. I want to recognize that all I have comes from God. I want to give to Him and think of Him as He does such great things in my life. It is easy to get more selfish the more God prospers us.
It was easy to tithe when we were poor and needed God. It was easier when it was a smaller amount. Now that God has prospered we had to give it up. God I want to be like David and not what I am normally geared to be or do!
