II Kings 15:9 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, as his fathers had done: he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin. 15: 34 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD: he did according to all that his father Uzziah had done. Here are two verses speaking about two different dads. Each had great influence on their son. Notice one was a wicked king and was following after his dad’s influence. He made Israel to sin like his dad. The second king did right. He, too, was following his dad’s influence. He did what he had seen his dad do. What a powerful lesson the Scriptures are giving us. Dad’s have tremendous influence. It is not super clear but apparently their dads are already gone. They are the ones living and leading today without their dads. They still do what dad did. I want to leave a good example for my sons and daughters. I want to live in such a way that if they do decide to follow my example, consciously or unconsciously they will be honoring Jesus. I am not just living for me. Others are watching. I must bear that in mind at all times.
