I Kings 2:31 And the king said unto him, Do as he hath said, and fall upon him, and bury him; that thou mayest take away the innocent blood, which Joab shed, from me, and from the house of my father.
Joab was David’s nephew. He was one of the mighty men. He had been the commander of the army. He had killed Uriah for David.
But he was always trying to manipulate David. He had his own agenda. He followed leadership when he thought it was in his best interest. When he wanted he rebelled.
He killed Abner and David didn’t want him to do so. He did other things that angered David but he let it pass.
Now Solomon is king and knows he must get rid of him.
Being a climber and user may work, a little, in the world but not among God’s people. Judgement will come.
