Mourning for his sons

February 12, 2016 By Austin Gardner Leave a Comment

II Samuel 13:39 And the soul of king David longed to go forth unto Absalom: for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.

David loved his sons. Amnon had been killed by Absalom. David had mourned him for 3 years. He loved both sons. He has been hurt on both sides. One son, Amnon, had raped a daughter. Absalom had murdered him. So David has lost three children. I am sure that he is hurting beyond anything we can put in words. Sin has horrible consequences. This story of hurt and pain is not over.

The lesson is that sin hurts and it hurts lots of people. We are unable to even see all that our sin can do to hurt. Thank God for His grace that He will love us and work in our lives in spite of our sin. He is the answer for all the things we mess up but that does not mean that He will get us out of all the consequences of our actions.
