II Samuel 11:27 And when the mourning was past, David sent and fetched her to his house, and she became his wife, and bare him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased the LORD.
David has sinned with a woman. He has now killed one of his best men. Everything seems to be working out as he plans and works his cover up but the chapter ends with a strong condemnation. The thing displeased the Lord.
A person might cover up his sin in the eyes of other people but God knows what is going on. We can’t hide from God. God is working in our lives. He knows what is really happening.
My heart should be to please God. I should want think in terms of how the Lord feels about what I am doing. It is easy to do what we want and hope God doesn’t care but that isn’t very wise. We are His servants. Our lives should reflect His will.
When we look at what we are doing we must consider if we are pleasing Him with our life and actions. He loves us but that is never a license to sin. His grace is liberty to serve but never license to sin.
