II Samuel 1:20 Tell it not in Gath, Publish it not in the streets of Askelon; Lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice, Lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.
Saul was dead. David didn’t want that story told among the Philistines. He didn’t want them rejoicing over the death of the king of Israel. He was God’s man for a time in Israel.
Saul had done wrong. His mistakes had brought about his death but that still didn’t make it fodder for the world.
Christians so often love to publicly try to embarrass each other. No doubt things must be dealt with but that doesn’t mean that we want the evening news laughing at the things of God.
So God put out a way to deal with things. Personally and directly before talking with anyone else is God’s way. Fix what you can and save your brother. Don’t put it out there so that Satan and the world can make fun.
Things do not need to be put on Facebook that express your anger with other Christians, your brothers and sisters. We need to remember that the lost world loves nothing more than a good fight among Christians that they already hate!
