Confidence from knowing God did the work

I Samuel 11:13 And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for to day the LORD hath wrought salvation in Israel.

There had been people doubting that Saul should be made king. Some of Saul’s loyalists wanted to bring them out and put them to death. Saul said that wasn’t going to happen on this day. He knew that it was God that had given them the victory. There was no need to defend himself. The only thing left for them to do was to praise God.

How often I want to defend myself because “it is me” doing the work! I forget that I am a servant. I forget that I belong to God and that it is God using me. God has worked in my heart about this over the last few days. He has reminded me that I am His servant. That I need to act like His servant. I need to not defend myself but trust Him.

I think when we know that it is God doing the work in our lives we will have an unusual confidence. We will not need to defend ourselves so much!
