Judges 20:13 Now therefore deliver us the men, the children of Belial, which are in Gibeah, that we may put them to death, and put away evil from Israel. But the children of Benjamin would not hearken to the voice of their brethren the children of Israel:
There were among the children of Benjamin some men who had definitely sinned. They should have been judged immediately but weren’t. Instead now the entire nation of Israel is going to go to war to judge the sin. Benjamin is going to nearly be destroyed.
This is what happens when we try to protect our sin. I have been guilty of not admitting my sin. I want to protect my pride, my ego, my self and so I refuse to admit my sin.
This only brings more judgment. This causes more people to be hurt and for me to be hurt much more. I have been so wrong in this. God has had to repeatedly teach me this lesson.
Maybe as you meditate on this verse you will think of how you protect your sin and be able to avoid some of the repercussions that will come with protecting your sin.
It is better to just face up to it. Admit your sin. Repent. And get back to doing right.
