Joshua 14:8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.
What a horrible truth to be said about someone. They melted the hearts of the people. They took out all the resolve. They dried up the courage. They melted their faith in God. They caused God’s people to not trust Him and to want to disobey.
I wonder how often we are that way. We are certain of our position. We know that what we are saying is true, at least from our perspective. We are not saying what God says but that might be understood from the fact that we don’t agree with how “YOU” interpret what God said. Certainly, you are doing what is best for your family.
But the truth is that our own fear was moved over to others. We have caused others to not trust God. We have let our fear contaminate the rest.
When we should be encouraging others to believe and step out we find ourselves doing the opposite.
I don’t want this to be my story. So I must quit thinking of myself, my opinion, my security, etc and begin thinking of what the Lord wants. I want to be an encourager not one that causes others to doubt, melt, give up!
