Leviticus 4:27 And if any one of the common people sin through ignorance, while he doeth somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty; 28 Or if his sin, which he hath sinned, come to his knowledge: then he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a female without blemish, for his sin which he hath sinned.
In this chapter over and over we read about the people sinning and an offering being made to atone for his sin. It is amazing. We hear about the ten commandments. We hear about God’s judgment on sin but we seem to miss that the One who gave the commandments, the One who tells us what sin is, also provides a sacrifice for our sins.
He is not out to find us guilty but rather to forgive our sins. The only way you would stay guilty would be if you refused to offer the sacrifice that He called for. Man didn’t make up the way to be forgiven, God did.
What a God! We know in the New Testament that every sacrifice was but a picture of Him giving His Son as our substitute. He made provision for sin!
