Genesis 33:16 So Esau returned that day on his way unto Seir. 17 And Jacob journeyed to Succoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: therefore the name of the place is called Succoth.
Esau meets Jacob. They seem to make peace. Esau wants to travel with him back towards home. Jacob says he will not need that but will follow on more slowly. The truth is that Jacob goes to an entirely different city, a different direction.
God had protected Jacob and provided for him. It is hard to tell here what is actually happening. Jacob doesn’t get things really right with his brother.
It makes me think of the number of times that I haven’t done exactly what I said I was going to do. It can be cowardice or something else. It is time to decide that we will be men of our word no matter the risk.
