What is my testimony in my family?

September 11, 2015 By Austin Gardner Leave a Comment

Genesis 19:14 And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

Lot gets news that God will destroy the city. That means that his family will die unless he can get them to leave the city. Lot’s sons in law mock him. His lifestyle destroyed his testimony. They couldn’t believe that a man like him had heard from God.

I know that I face the temptation to have a different persona in public than private. I know that I can be nicer to those that I am treating as a pastor than to my wife and children.

I know that I run the continual risk of causing those that know me best to doubt my walk with God. Today I ask God to help me and I decide that I will again work at being more careful to love him in private like I do in public.

I want to live out what I preach and not just do it publicly. I want to be who He made me to be. I want to be the same person in private and public.

I thank God for grace that forgives me for my many failures and sins. I thank God for having new mercies every morning.

I want to protect my testimony. I want to be the man of God in public and private. I want my living to be the same as my preaching!
