Wicked before the Lord

September 5, 2015 By Austin Gardner Leave a Comment

Genesis 13:13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.

The men of Sodom were wicked before Lot got there. Lot chose to live in Sodom. He looked that way, liked what he saw, and began moving in that direction. Lot didn’t consider what God thought of Sodom. It was a large city. It had all of the conveniences. It would meet Lot’s needs.

Sodom will later be destroyed. Let’s remember that there is a bank of common knowledge about God in all these people. They know what is right and wrong. They know it from their parents. Just like we saw that Noah knew about the clean and unclean animals for the ark.

Sodomites knew that God was to be worshipped. They knew that God had man and woman for each other. The Sodomites chose to completely rebel against God and do what was against nature. God saw them as exceedingly sinful.

The sad thing is that Lot, the man of God, chose to live there. Sometimes for the conveniences and the beauty of the city we will sell our souls, compromise our families and eventually bring ruin to those we love just to get a few trinkets.

Time to take a stand and honor God with our lives!
