Genesis 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.
In Genesis 2 we see God give us more detail about the creation of man. That is not really hard to understand or accept for a believer. He gave us the outline in the first chapter. He told the entire story in great strokes.
Now He goes into more detail about man and how He made man. He tells us how woman came to be. The story makes far more sense they way it is told in this passage making it easier to understand the next chapter.
There are people who want to use the telling of the creation story twice as a way to discredit the creation account. They say that we must accept that the earth is old, real old, like millions of years old. They want you to consider that the Bible doesn’t jive with science.
I don’t think it has to! Science is man trying to understand. I believe in science. I just believe in science based on what man can see and understand and not what is beyond him.
Man was created with the appearance of age according to what we have written here. Adam and Eve were full grown people. Adam was very intelligent, enough to name all the animals. They were told to procreate which doesn’t happen with children.
So what makes me think that God can’t make a world with the appearance of age? It doesn’t all have to happen at a rate that I can understand unless I think that I am the superior being. If there is a God wouldn’t you expect Him to be bigger than you? Wouldn’t you expect Him to do things that you do not understand? If you could understand it all would He be greater than you?
