Acts 24:5 For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
The people knew Paul as a pest, a guy who caused riots, and a ringleader of an upstart religious group. None of these sound like the best of descriptions. I doubt most pastors would want this on their resume today.
But if we are to make much of a difference maybe this is more of what we need. A pest, a public menace, someone that aggravated the status quo. People knew that Paul wasn’t just one of the crowd. He had a purpose to his life. He was living for something. He was making a difference.
He was causing riots. He was making such a difference that things seemed to be turning upside down. People were gathering to hear him speak. Lives were being changed. Things were happening.
He was a ringleader. He wasn’t simply attending. He was in the middle of it. He was causing it to happen. He was getting other people to take part in the action.
I want to be like Paul. I want to make a difference. I want to stir things up. I want to be on the side of right and truth but I do not just want to sit here. I want to do something.
How about you?
