Jesus never questioned Satan’s authority

Luke 4:6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. 7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. 8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

When people blame God for all the wicked things that happen on this earth I think they are forgetting this truth. Satan is tempting Jesus. He offers Jesus the kingdoms of this world.

Satan unashamedly says I will give it to you. He offered the kingdom and power to Jesus. Instead of mocking him Jesus simply responds with truth. Jesus tells the devil that He will only worship God because that is what we are commanded to do.

Jesus never corrects Satan by saying that he, Satan, can’t offer what isn’t his. Jesus knows that through man’s sin this world fell under the power and authority of Satan.

Sin has entered the world. It has brought death. Sin has horrible consequences. Man chooses for himself. He ignores God and His will. Then man complains because it seems that God is mistreating him.

You can’t have it both ways. You can’t ignore God and do your own thing and then want His blessings.
