I Kings 11:4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.
As Solomon got older he evidently got softer. Getting softer may have been what made him make the softer decisions. He was the wisest man alive and yet women turned his heart.
Maybe it was easier to hold the line as a younger man. Perhaps he was willing to take an unpopular stand but now older he just didn’t want the fight!
He developed a relationship with women that wasn’t wise. These women got him to do what they wanted him to do. He built their gods a temple.
Now his heart wasn’t what it should be with the Lord.
I want to be careful to take the right stand. I want to keep my heart right with God and not be so into pleasing people!
