Genesis 3:11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
This verse makes several things obvious but I overlooked them for years. It wasn’t Jesus or God who told them that they were naked. So we know that Jesus didn’t coming condemning them. He arrives with a solution.
It is obvious that something in Adam and Eve caused them to know that they had failed God. Something had embarrassed them and made them see their condition in their sin. Sin had made them vulnerable and had embarrassed them.
Jesus is there to give them a solution for their sin and problem.
How often have I thought that God was angry? That it was God who came and made them feel so badly. How often have I felt that God was angry with me and judging me. In this story Adam has judged himself. Jesus is there to provide a solution. He is there to rescue them.
That is really what has happened in my life. He loves me. He loves us. We can know that instead of judging us and condemning us He is here to rescue us. He will give us our dignity back. He will cover our nakedness and take away our shame!
