Noble, fair minded people studying their Bible

Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

When Paul and Silas arrived in Berea they went to the synagogue of the Jews in that city. There they found a group of people that delighted them. They were different than the people in most synagogues. They were fair. They were noble. They listened to what Paul and Silas taught and checked it out in the Scriptures.

They were willing to listen as long as they could search the Scriptures and see if what they were hearing was in the Bible. They would allow Paul to speak but just wanted to be sure that what he said was in the Bible.

Isn’t that how we should be? Many of us go to church every service. We decide if we like what is being said or not but we do not really check it out in the Scriptures. How many of us are reading our Bibles on a daily basis? How many of us are studying the Bible so that we will know if what we hear fits the Word of God?

Be a noble, fair-minded Christian. Listen but check out everything you hear to see if it is in the Scriptures or not!
