I never find writing the “Sunday in Review” especially easy. Today is extra difficult because there is so much to cover that I fear once I start I may never stop! It was a wonderful day! I truly, truly mean it. I know there would be many reasons for me to say that Sundays around here are awesome, but with all sincerity I tell you I am so glad my family was allowed of God to worship with you all this Sunday.
In the morning service Pastor Gardner continued our series in the book of Matthew. We have been in somewhat of a “mini-series” concerning the church as we arrived to Matthew 16:18. I have really enjoyed every sermon in this “mini-series.” You should listen to there sermon! If you already have a love for the local church it will excite you. If you do not it will challenge your way of thinking to be transformed to see the church as Christ sees the church. The sermon was title “What does the church do for me?” (here is the link to the audio). God uses the church to teach us, protect us, and it is a place we can serve and participate!
After the morning service we had the “Come and See Luncheon.” It was awesome seeing so many new and prospective members. John Pearson leaned over and said something to the extent of “this is so much fun we should do this every Sunday.” It really is a blast to take time to talk about what makes Vision – Vision! God is sending people with diverse gifts to our church to build what He has in mind for us to reach our community!
In the evening we had our annual Vision Night! In the picture you will see many of our volunteers on stage being recognized for the work they have done throughout the year. We had a time of prayer for each of the ministry teams. It was extra special to have Jason Cline, Jim West, and Cara West join during this service. We also voted on appointing John Pearson and Bret Johnson as our two newest deacons!
There is so much to say about Sunday.. but I am going to sign off here to get to work on some of the things today holds for us! It is a real joy to serve with you all! Do not forget about the Special Service on Thursday night. We will hear from David Gardner and Beth Johnson! Here are the details.
