Titles aren’t important

Matthew 23:8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. 9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven. 10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.

Jesus told His disciples not to be called Rabbi, Father, or Master. They were to realize that they only had one Master and He was in Heaven. They were simply brothers. This is hard for us in our traditions but it is biblical.

Titles are far too often made as something important to us but not to God. The disciples were told not to use these three. I wonder what Jesus would say of our hunger to be called Brother when other brothers might not be called like that, Pastor to recognize our position, etc.

We need to be careful to have His attitude about who we are! Wow!
