Jonah 4:2 And he prayed unto the Lord, and said, I pray thee, O Lord, was not this my saying, when I was yet in my country? Therefore I fled before unto Tarshish: for I knew that thou art a gracious God, and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repentest thee of the evil.Jonah knew about God before he ever ran. He knew that God was full of grace, full of mercy, didn’t get angry quickly, was full of kindness and didn’t like to discipline or punish. Isn’t that what another prophet has told us about Him. The reason Jonah ran from God was that he didn’t want to see God save those people. He knew that God was good. Get rid of those thoughts that tell you that God is cruel and hard. They do not line up with the Scriptures.
