Leviticus 22:24 Ye shall not offer unto the LORD that which is bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall ye make any offering thereof in your land.
It would make it an easy choice if you could give God something that was of lesser value. They were going to sacrifice the animal any way. They weren’t going to earn any money or gain anything from it. It would be on an altar soon.
But God said that He wanted the best. When I first arrived in Peru and the people were new to church many would give what didn’t have any value. The money had just changed from the Inti to the Nuevo Sol. The Intis were no longer worth anything. Each week the offering was full of those coins.
The people wanted to give. Money was tight. They could get away with giving an old Inti.
Have you ever treated God that way? Have you ever tried to figure out how you could give with it costing you less? That is kind of what this verse is talking about!
