Hebrews 10:34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance.
The writer of Hebrews is thankful for the sacrificial giving of God’s people. He realizes that he has been very costly. They have given till it hurt.
But he knows that they can give this way because they understand a beautiful, biblical truth. They know that God has something special for them in heaven. They know that they are laying up treasures in heaven. They know that the money that they gave was only temporary but that they are getting something eternal laid up in heaven.
When you give do you realize what is happening? Do you realize that though it seems you are sacrificing now that in the long run you are getting more back than you are giving? do you realize that our money, our goods, our security, and our future are not here on this earth but in heaven?
I hope as you continue to give so sacrificially that you will learn to focus on promises like this one. I hope you will realize that we are serving a God that knows exactly what we are doing and that He keeps good books!
