II Timothy 2:23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. 24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
As we serve God we will deal with people. We will always be in discussions with people about the Bible and the things of God. Here Timothy is being instructed about how to deal with people and their questions.
Sometimes people want to fight and fuss about the craziest ideas. They just want to argue. Your answer will will just hurt feelings and get people to fighting.
You are to be more mature than that. You are not an arguer. You are not to fight. You are to be gentle and kind to all. You are to be willing to teach the truth but not to get into a fight. You are to be patient.
As you instruct people you simply tell the truth. No arguing. You know that it is God that will bring them to repentance. It is God that will convince them of the truth, not you!
So stay out of arguments and serve and honor God.
