Philippians 1:29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
This is one of those wild verses in the Bible. I don’t think we expect to find it. It says that God has given us the privilege of serving on the behalf of Christ. We are allowed to suffer.
This is not talking about willingly going without something but rather being persecuted for our belief in the Lord Jesus Christ and His death on the cross. It is being mistreated, maligned, abused, and all sorts of problems for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
It was considered a privilege to the apostle Paul. In our day we consider giving an offering to be suffering enough. We consider sweating as we give out tracts to be a bit of suffering.
I wonder how we should view the idea of suffering for Jesus sake? Is it a privilege? Are we honored to suffered or do we complain?
