Romans 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
I love this verse. I preached it separately when I preached through Romans at Vision! Paul was a sinner saved by grace that becomes a saint. When Paul is first mentioned in the Bible he is wrecking havoc of the church. He was there when they stoned Stephen. He led a great persecution against the church.
Now we see Paul, a servant of Christ. He calls himself the slave of Jesus Christ. Jesus frees us from serving sin to serve Him. Everyone is a slave to someone or something. Paul preferred to belong to God and serve Him.
Paul was a sent one, as an apostle of Christ. He was separated unto the gospel of God. Paul was not just separated from the world but to the gospel.
This could be a description of our lives too. We were once lost in sin, then God saved us. He gave us purpose in our lives. He gives us a ministry. We step away from the world and to the Lord Jesus. We want to give our lives in His service.
