Acts 11:9 But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.
There are times in our life that God will ask us to do things that we have never done before, things that maybe don’t fit in with our personality, or things that could be criticized by others.
In Acts 11:7-10, God was asking Peter to eat something that was an abomination for a Jew to eat. It went against his grain, his beliefs, his ideas of what was acceptable, but because God commanded him, he obeyed anyway. In verse 12, Peter said he went with them, nothing doubting and God did a great work.
If William Carey would have listened to the voices of wisdom and tradition, he would never have gone to India. If Hudson Taylor would have listened to the leaders in his church, he would never have gone to China. If William Paton would have listened to those who were afraid of cannibals, he would never have gone to the New Hebrides.
Who are you listening to? God or man?
