Two action packed Sundays have past since I have last given a review! On March the 16th, Vision Baptist Church (Alpharetta) celebrated their 8th anniversary with our annual Celebration Sunday! We spent the day in the Word (as we do every Sunday) and praising God for the many wonderful things He has allowed us to see happen over the last 8 years. The rain kept us from our balloon launch and caused us to have our big “family picture” inside, but it did stop us from have a great celebration.
We had a cake unlike anything we had ever seen before! It was absolutely incredible! We would like to thank Sweets and Treats by Andria Gardner for putting so much thought, time, and talent into the making of our “Birthday Cake”! It was made in theme of our “Every Verse, Every Nation” which has become the rally call of our church over the years.
We have been able, only by God’s grace, to have sent out over 20 missionaries and to preach through 20 books of the Bible. You will see the globe shows the places we have sent a missionary and the Bible is open to Acts 1:8. The red ribbon on the cake represents the “Pledge Ribbon” we have given out to 100s of people over the years as they commit their lives to serving in foreign missions.
In our afternoon service we had the joy of hearing Chris Gardner remind us from God’s Word that we have a Biblical mandate to be a church that is known for loving one another. We desire to express that in the way we serve together in our community and the way we continue to minister to our missionaries after they leave our church for the field.
We were also excited to have Paul and Debbie Diemer join the church on this Sunday. They and their children (Adam, Alex, and Leah) are a wonderful family that love the Lord and look forward to serving the Lord with our church family. We are excited to have them on board!
We also had our annual Chili Cook Off and Dessert Contest. I love this event because it makes us all winners from the great food we get to eat. We have some really capable chefs and Jr Bakers in our church. David Rackley, once again, took the trophy for the best tasting chili. Paul Diemer won most unique. Ryan Murphy won the “spiciest but still is able to be eaten” category with some awesome chili with ground venison. Michael Miller was our Junior Baker winner. Yvonne and Brett Johnson won best tasting. He said he focused on the cake and she took care of the icing on the german chocolate cake. They make a great team. The “Kids from Branon Road” with the help of Pastor Robert Canfield and Kanon Bloom won most creative with their “Kitty Litter Cake”. It may be the grossest thing I have ever seen. I wish I could unsee it.
Our daughter church in Cobb County celebrated their 1st Celebration Sunday on March the 23rd! The team there put in 1000s of hours leading up to this day. We have many volunteers from Alpharetta travel down to Smryna as 10,000 pieces of literature was distributed to prepare for this day.
The Voorhis, Scwartz, Smith family, Kanon Bloom, and others have been serving along side Pastor Beau Carpenter and Pastor Austin Gardner to see this church launched. On this Celebration Sunday we had the Evans Family, Johnson family, Ben Thomas, Faith Insisiengmay, and others down there to help. Ben Johnson, our missionary to China, gave a missions presentation in the service that followed lunch.
There were 45 in attendance with 11 visitors!! God is doing a wonderful work to see His church built in this community. We are currently meeting in a very nice church building that had sat empty for several years. It is a growing and diverse area of the city. We are so grateful to God for what He is doing and we are so proud of our brothers in sisters that have committed to being the “pioneer team” to see this church formed for the Glory of God. Beau Carpenter has grown by leaps and bounds and has become a first class assistant pastor working along side our Pastor to make sure the Word of God is faithfully taught every week.
Last night we had a super special time at Vision Baptist Church (Alpharetta)! We had our blessing service for the Tubillas Family. Almost 8 years ago Pastor Ronald and Mrs. Asunta and Surama left from Peru to come to Alpharetta to be a missionary to the spanish speaking people of America. As a pastor in Peru, Pastor Ronald had seen dozens of young men and ladies trained for the ministry. As a result his church was able to start many new churches. He was very much a preacher in demand to preach among the churches and had great influence among the students of the Peru Baptist College were taught. Leaving their home country was no easy decision, but we are so glad they followed God’s leading and came here to minister.
Over the last years the spanish ministry has grown into a vibrant group of believers who serve inside our church. Many people have come to know Christ as a result of their ministry. In fact, the new pastor for this ministry (Miguel Sanabria) was saved, baptized, and trained in our church. He has been Pastor Ronald’s right hand man and is indebted to his influence in his life.
Also over the last 8 years as they have led the ministry here they have also started another church in Norcross, GA. For many years they met in the Trinity Hill Baptist Church. Pastor Cofer and the church family there were very eager to help Pastor Ronald and the team we sent from our church to reach the spanish speaking people of the community. They served as great hosts and lovingly shared their building to make it possible for this church to meet. Today as a result of their growth they meet in their own building. Pastor Ronald will be transitioning to spending his time in Norcross and Miguel leads the ministry in Alpharetta. I have no doubt Pastor Ronald and the church he serves will continue to start even more churches and reach more and more communities in the metro Atlanta area. There is a great need for this and he is especially equipped for the work.
