Deuteronomy 4:9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
It is so easy to forget all that God has done in our lives. We begin to take it for granted. We think that some how we did it, we earned it, we deserved it! The sin of ingratitude begins to creep in!
Our hearts grow cold and indifferent. It just happened. That is how things have gone in my life!
Then we fail to teach our children what a great God we serve. We begin to take credit for what God has done. We are smart. We work hard. We have been lucky, but not really lucky, that is just how we are. We get things done that others can’t do!
Before long we will have children that are Christian in name only. They will talk about serving Jesus but not do it! They will go to church but out of habit, duty, custom, parent pleasing, point making but not because they love Jesus.
We must not forget what He has done. We must never quit talking about it!
