Leviticus 22:24 Ye shall not offer unto the LORD that which is bruised, or crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall ye make any offering thereof in your land.
Moses reminded the people that they were to give God their best. They were never to bring something that was damaged to God. They weren’t to think, well, if I have to give I might as well give something that is not of much value to me!
It is kind of like re-gifting at Christmas. You know, you give something to someone that you got as a gift but didn’t really like or want! I guess everyone has done that but you should never do that with God.
You never give to God what you do not want to keep for yourself. Real giving costs you something. You do not give the damaged goods.
We should never be known as a people that give God things that cost us nothing, that are worth nothing, that mean nothing to us! He is worthy of something that is precious to you!
When we lived in Peru the money changed from the Inti to the New Sol. When it changed and the Inti had no value the offering baskets filled up with the junk that we just threw away. That is the picture of how many of us give. Just throw a $1 in the plate. Give God your left over change. Be sure and don’t give anything of real value. He isn’t worth it!
Figure out a way to not give to God. That is a horrible way for someone who claims to love God to act!
