Exodus 1:17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.
As the Egyptians became fearful of the ever growing Israelite nation the Pharaoh called on the midwives to kill the men babies. Instead of killing them the midwives realized that there was a real and true God. They feared Him. They believed that He really existed, He had power to make a difference in their lives.
They were willing to risk their lives to save the children. They made a clear an obvious decision to do what would please God rather than man.
The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Without faith it is impossible to believe God.
There is a great truth taught in this verse, I think! It is that God can save in the least likely situation possible. He can touch the heart of the heartless and unbelieving. God is ever powerful and convicts of sin. He awakens the heart, causes the fear of God, and brings about a changed life.
Don’t give up on the person you are praying for. Keep trusting God to work in circumstances you believe to be near impossible!
