Exodus 17:2 Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the LORD?
When the people got thirsty and tired they got mad. They blamed Moses. They wanted to see Moses perform. Moses had to do something because the people were looking at him.
They had taken their eyes off of Jesus. They accuse Moses of bringing them to the desert to kill them and their children.
I think it is important for those in the ministry to realize that the people often tend to hold you accountable for the things of God. They get mad at God and take it out on you.
You have to be careful not to fall into the trap of thinking that you can do things or that you have to protect God.
Be careful not to overstate the case. Try not to say what God doesn’t say! Try not to make God look good. He already does.
The temptation that Moses feels in this passage is often ours. It leads to frustration and disappointment!
