John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee. They went forth, and entered into a ship immediately; and that night they caught nothing.
As embarrassing as it was just a few verses ago for Thomas we now find Peter who had the privilege of seeing Jesus in that first Sunday evening service going fishing for fish instead of for men. Jesus comes along to seemingly remind him of his responsibility. The doubter and the denier are now fishers of men once again. He came. He lived among them. He showed His power. They knew Him. But it seems to have had little impact on their lives. I suppose this is the reason you and I can read our Bibles all our lives, enjoy seeing God move in our lives and churches, hear hundreds of sermons and yet when we should be teachers we need to go back and take the first lessons again. Do we need Him to come and ask us if we really love Him?
