5 things about Vision for our 5th Birthday

March 5, 2011 By kyle shreve Leave a Comment

This year will be Vision Baptist Church’s 5th anniversary, and that is more than enough cause to celebrate and praise the Lord! To commemorate this special happening, we will be writing a series of top 5’s about Vision.

The top 5 things the congregation likes about Vision

#5-The Biblical, verse by verse, preaching

Before  Vision, I had never heard an expository preacher. Never. And to be quite honest, it took me by surprise!  Many of us grew up wondering “what’s the message going to be about this week?”  But here ate Vision, we preach verse by verse, chapter. We start in chapter 1 verse 1, and go until the book ends. And this allows the congregation to study ahead, and know what’s coming next.

“The big thing with Pastor Gardner’s messages is that they’re trustworthy. He walks you through the Bible and shows you where all the verses are. “

“The messages at Vision are extremely Biblical, but also intensely practical and connect with my daily life.”

“It is the most practical applicable and personal preaching I’ve ever heard. You have a lot of good preachers, but almost too often, they’re almost too concerned with appearing intelligent and well versed as  opposed to taking the message to applying it to people’s hearts and lives.”

John Hines said, “Preaching is effective as long as the preacher expects something to happen-not because of the sermon, not even because of the preacher, but because of God.” And that is exactly what happens at Vision. The Word of God is opened and preached for what it says.

We have an extremely high valuation of the Word of God at Vision Baptist, and that is extremely evident in the preaching and teaching.
