Dear Pastors, Partners, & Praying Friends,
We have been in China for over 100 days, and our lives have completely changed. We have learned so many new things. We have been frustrated, happy, and amazed at all that is taking place. Let me tell you about five of these new changes:
First, the ministry. The Lord is using the Taube Family in great ways. They have an exciting ministry, and we are glad that we have the privilege to be a part of it while we are in language school. At the beginning of this month, the church held it’s first “witnessing conference.” It was exciting to see the Chinese people being equipped with the tools they need to help them spread the Gospel.
Second, the climate. We have already had several snow falls and temperatures in the negatives. Adapting to the new climate hasn’t been as bad as we expected, but the worst of the cold is yet to come. Every time you go outside, you have to “prepare” for the cold and put on multiples layers. It is starting to become habit.
Third, the city life. We live in the fifth floor of a seventeen floor building. We are surrounded by building after building. We take taxis everywhere as they are our current mode of transportation. It is a cement jungle that is different than anything we are used too.
Fourth, the Chinese culture. Learning the “way things are done here.” Everything from eating new foods, shopping in new ways, to taking your shoes off at the door. It is a new body of knowledge shared by those around us, and we are trying to share in it.
Fifth, the language. We now have completed two months of language study and took a short break before we started our third month. Our vocabulary is slowly expanding and we are starting to be able to communicate in everyday situations. We are still convinced this is going to be a long process but we are committed for the long haul.
Those are five ways our lives have changed since our time in China. Continue to remember us in prayer as we endeavor to learn more so that we will be able to effectively communicate the Gospel message to those whose lives we now share in. And as always, we want to thank you for being a part of our team, Project China, with your prayers and financial support!
In closing, here are some praises and prayer request for you to take before the Lord:
Praises:
- We received the funds that we had been praying for to be able to purchase a vehicle in the near future!
- We completed our second month of language school.
- We are still seeing churches partner with us!
Prayer Request:
- Continue to pray that the churches here would take responsibility to see the world reach with the Gospel!
- Our family as we are in our third month of language school.
In Christ,
The Tolson Family
