Obtaining the promise

Hebrews 6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

An amazing truth is taught here that we all need to learn. God made a promise to Abraham but things didn’t come quickly or easily. Abraham thought that they should have come much quicker than they did. There were times that Abraham tried to help God work out the promise but when he finally gets the promise notice what is said:

He patiently waited.

That is what we all have to do. We pray and we want results immediately. We want God to answer our prayer right away but if we watch the pattern in the Bible we find this verse to be the truth instead of what we normally think.

Joseph waited at least 13 years. Moses waited at least 40 years. David waited years from being anointed until he was made king and so on throughout the Bible.

So let’s wait patiently knowing that God is going to answer but it may take time. The word used here is endured. That doesn’t imply that it was easy.
