Ezekiel 20:9 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
God uses the term, my name’s sake, four times in this chapter. What was of greatest interest to Him was His name.
He wrought or worked for His name’s sake so that it would not be polluted before the heathen. That should tell us something. He is highly concerned for His name so we should honor it. We should desire to bring glory to His name.
He repeats basically this same verse in Ezekiel 20:14. He moves because of His name not ours. Then again He repeats the same truth in Ezekiel 20:22.
If we haven’t figured out that it is not about us but His name then this next verse will clear that up!
Ezekiel 20:44 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
Notice that He wrought us for His name’s sake and not according to our ways or doings. It is about Him.
We must realize that God is at work in this world. He is not my personal genie. He is not here taking care of me and my wishes but I am here to serve Him and His wishes.
How often do you consider Him as you go about your daily life?
