Preparation time is not wasted time

Ecclesiastes 10:10 If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct.

Preparation time is not wasted time. Often we rush to the work without knowing what we are doing. We think that getting in the work is the answer when really knowing what to do when we get there is more important. Wisdom will teach us where and how to work.

Take the time to learn the lessons. Get training.

Abraham Lincoln is quoted as saying, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”

Could it be that your desire to get into the work will end up frustrating you because of your blunt axe.
